The “Partnership Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Libya”, which was organized today in Sarajevo by the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, gathered representatives of more than 60 companies from both countries interested in the renewal of cooperation and the return of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s company to that market.

Vice President of VTK BiH Zdravko Marinković pointed out that BiH companies have extremely positive experiences on the Libyan market, where they implemented various infrastructure projects in the construction sector, and operated and had production plants in the food industry, oil, pharmaceutical and electrical sectors.

He specified that more than 30 BH companies once operated in companies in Libya, and currently only ten are active. Marinković stated that in the last three years, exports to Libya in the value of 11.2 million euros were realized, and there were no imports from Libya.

“Unfortunately, due to unfortunate circumstances and events in Libya, most of these companies were forced to withdraw from the Libyan market. Some of them have left their production facilities idle, and few have continued their operations. We strive to BH companies regain their positions on the Libyan market, but also to increase the presence of Libyan products in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Marinković.

As possible potentials for cooperation, he mentioned the energy sector, which has a great influence on the growth and development of the BiH economy, and the metal sector, which on average accounts for about 32 percent of the total BiH export, and the furniture, food and IT industries.

The head of the Libyan delegation, Issam Al-Awl, reminded of the strong ties between BiH and Libya in the past and called for their restoration to make them even stronger and self-sustaining.

He added that it is necessary to activate partnerships between the two countries and investments in various areas, which is why certain agreements and memoranda should be signed, and BH present to companies the advantages of investing in Libya.

Al-Awl said that Bosnia and Herzegovina will companies are invited to participate in the Trade Fair in Tripoli to establish new partnerships and make a strong return to the Libyan market.

The economic delegation of Libya included representatives of companies from the steel and metal industry, construction and engineering, food and wood industry, tourism and others.

It is planned that as part of the Partnership Day, a Memorandum of Understanding will be signed between VTKBiH and the Fair Board of the State of Libya in order to improve cooperation in performances at fairs and the organization of conferences, Fena writes.
