The Minister for European and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, Igli Hasani, the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, and the Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Albania, Anita Shaqiri, officially opened the Embassy of the Republic of Albania in Bosnia and Herzegovina, based in Sarajevo.

Hasani and Shaqiri welcomed the guests, the diplomatic corps in Bosnia and Herzegovina, public and cultural workers, and expressed their hope that the opening of the Embassy in Sarajevo would improve bilateral relations between the two countries.

Minister Helez said that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania have had good cooperation for 33 years, and the opening of the Embassy of Albania will, he emphasized, improve cooperation in all areas.

“Economic cooperation is still at a low level between Bosnia and Albania, and with the opening of the Embassy, we will improve the exchange of goods, we will have better economic cooperation,” said Helez.

He believes that there is also a great chance for cooperation in the field of tourism, because this branch of the economy is on an upward trajectory in both Bosnia and Albania.

According to some data, as he stated, more than 50,000 Bosnians and Herzegovinans spend their summers in Albania, and the opening of the airline will connect the two countries and strengthen the bond of cooperation.

Given that Albania is a member of NATO, Minister Helez said that Albania can significantly help BiH to become a member of NATO itself.

He expressed hope that BiH will also open an embassy in Tirana, so that cooperation between the two countries would be even better, BHRT writes.
