The FBiH implemented all Measures from the IMF Letter of Intent

The FBiH realized all the measures from the Letter of Intent of the IMF, as noted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finances of the FBiH, Jelka Milicevic.

However, she warned that the adoption of the Proposal of the Law on the Rights of Demobilized Veterans and their Family Members at the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the FBiH is concerning the IMF and it resulted in a delay of the meeting of the Board of Directors of the IMF, which is the reason why the arrangement with this international financial institution was put into question.

She also added that it is unusual that all activities were conducted just three days before the meeting of the Board of Directors of the IMF and revisions of the evaluation after the review.

It is estimated that about 14 million BAM is required for the implementation of the Proposal of the Law on the Rights of Demobilized Veterans and their Family Members. The proposed law with amendments was adopted by the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the FBiH last week, and it is necessary for the House of Peoples to approve it to officially enter into force.

Representatives of the IMF should make the analysis of the effects of this law, and their arrival is expected in BiH after the fact that the meeting of the Board of Directors of the IMF was not held this week.

This was confirmed by the resident representative of IMF in BiH, Francisco Parodi, who said that “the IMF needs more time to assess recent decisions of government on the increase of benefits for veterans in the FBiH and salaries in the public sector in the RS”.
