The fire, which broke out this morning at Sarajevo’s Heco market, has been extinguished, and members of the Professional Fire Department of Sarajevo Canton are still on the scene.

According to the dispatcher of the Professional Fire Department, Salem Ramić, the fire was reported in the morning at 8:59 a.m.

“Three vehicles were immediately dispatched to the scene. At one point, the fire was brought under control, however, there was an explosion of unknown origin, after which the fire spread again. About 20 vehicles and a large number of firefighters were dispatched to the scene.

“The fire is currently extinguished, and the firefighters are working on excavating the remaining small corners,” said Ramić.

“There are still a few teams left, during the night we will secure the site of the fire so that we can react if it starts again,” said Ramić.
