The first Chinese film week kicked off on Wednesday in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH’s) capital Sarajevo by screening “Operation Mekong,” an action movie based on a true story.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to BiH Ji Ping noted that the production of Chinese movies dates back to 1905 and has been progressing for more than 100 years.

“Today, China has the second largest movie industry in the world and is one of the strongest engines for the development of the global movie market,” Ji said.

Almir Mahmutovic, a local 50-year-old economist, told Xinhua that this was the first time for him to watch a Chinese movie.

“By watching the film, I find that Chinese police are very efficient, and I especially like the fact that they managed to fulfill the task with as few casualties as possible,” Mahmutovic said.

Running from Sept.25-29, five Chinese movies, namely “Operation Mekong,” “The Secret of China,” “Masters in Forbidden City,” “White Snake” and “Himalaya: Ladder to Paradise” will be screened here, Xinhua reports.
