The first private general hospital in Sarajevo – ASA Hospital – officially opened its doors to patients on April 6th. Symbolically, on the Day of the City, Sarajevo, as well as the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gained a modern healthcare institution that prioritizes patients and creates a vision of excellence in healthcare.

The first private general hospital represents an important step in improving healthcare in BiH and is a testament to the founders’ commitment to investing in the prosperity and development of BiH society. Driven by the idea that BiH possesses individuals with skills, knowledge, and intelligence, the founders launched the Hastor Foundation over 18 years ago, aiming to provide more opportunities for young people – BiH citizens. ASA Hospital represents a further step in realizing this mission.

“The drive and idea behind establishing ASA Hospital are the result of a long-term strategy for the development of healthcare activities within the ASA Group, aimed at improving healthcare for all our citizens and strengthening the capacities of the overall BiH healthcare system. With this goal in mind, ASA Medical was formed, which will unify all our healthcare institutions into one subgroup with the common aim of empowering and strengthening the capacity of the BiH healthcare system, further demonstrating our dedication to investing in the prosperity and progress of the entire society,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Rasim Jusufovic, President of the Management Board of ASA Hospital.

With a top-notch team of experts with years of experience and a strategic partnership with the Medical University of Vienna International and the Vienna General Hospital (AKH), this hospital brings high standards in service provision, as well as access to the latest scientific advancements and the development of joint scientific research projects.

The services of Asa Hospital include many medical disciplines, including general and abdominal surgery, otolaryngology, internal medicine with gastroenterology, cardiology, endocrinology, gynecology, and obstetrics with IVF, orthopedics, pediatrics, radiology, urology, emergency care, and many other departments such as ophthalmology, rheumatology, physiotherapy, and dermatology.

Regarding cooperation with the Health Insurance Institute, ASA Hospital has initiated activities and discussions with cantonal health insurance institutes, as well as cantonal ministries of health, to jointly find legally defined ways for the services of this healthcare institution to be available to insured persons under mandatory health insurance. At the same time, cooperation has been established with insurance companies whose service packages will be tailored to the needs of patients and aligned with the offerings of ASA Hospital.
