The Head of OSCE in BiH visited the High Judical and Prosecutorial Council

The Head of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Brian Aggeler, visited the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH (HJPC BiH) today and talked with members of the Presidency and the leadership of the HJPC Secretariat about the activities carried out by the HJP CBiH within its jurisdiction.

The President of the HJPC BiH, Halil Lagumdžija, thanked for the support that the OSCE Mission in BiH has been providing to the HJPC  and the judiciary of our country for years.

He emphasized the importance of an open discussion on all issues important for the effective functioning of the judiciary and emphasized that the HJPC recognized the importance of improving the system, especially referring to issues that are also the focus of the OSCE Mission to BiH, such as the improvement of the appointment and promotion process holders of judicial functions, ensuring greater transparency of the judiciary, resolving war crimes cases, etc.

Ambassador Aggeler emphasized that there has been a long and extraordinary cooperation between the HJPC of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressing his desire to continue this cooperation in the future.

“The HJPC did a difficult job in difficult conditions and we are very committed to supporting the work of the HJPC BiH,” said Aggeler.
