The Israeli army requested the evacuation of some settlements in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, on Sunday.
In a message to the residents of Gaza, Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee said that the Israeli army “continues strong action against Hamas and other terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip.”
He called on “residents of the neighborhoods of Al-Mahatta, Al-Katiba, Hamada, Al-Satar, Bani Suhaila and Ma’an to evacuate.”
“For your safety, we urge you to relocate to IDP sites in Al-Fukhari, Al-Shaboura, Al-Zuhur and Tal Al-Sultan neighborhoods,” the statement added.
Adraee published a map called “evacuation zones”, according to which the Israeli army has divided the Gaza Strip into “blocs” in preparation for a new phase of the conflict in which it has specified the locations it will target in order to allow residents to evacuate in time.
The army spokesman stressed that “obeying the evacuation instructions is the safest way to preserve your own safety, the lives and lives of your families.”
The Israeli military resumed its bombardment of the Gaza Strip early Friday after ending a week-long humanitarian truce with the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
Israel launched air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip after a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7. Since then, 15,207 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, 70 percent of whom are children and women, and more than 40,650 people have been wounded.
The official death toll in Israel is 1,200, AA reports.
