The Meeting of Party Leaders at the State Level began in East Sarajevo

The leaders of the parties at the state level, HDZ, NS, NiP and SDP, arrived for a meeting at the administrative center of the Government of Republika Srpska in East Sarajevo.

In addition to the host from SNSD, Dragan Čović from HDZ, Nermin Nikšić, Saša Magazinović and Nerin Dizdar from SDP, Edin Forto, Predrag Kojović and Sabina Ćudić from NS, and Elmedin Konaković and Denis Zvizdić from NiP, Nenad Nešić from DNS also attends the meeting.

This meeting was announced at the end of July. At the meeting, the parties that together form the government at the state level will aim to reach an agreement on the adoption of the promised laws, especially those that the European Union highlights as important. Among the laws that are planned to be adopted are the law on the High Judicial and Prosecutors Council, the law on the courts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the law on conflict of interest and the law on freedom of access to information.

The meeting is being held two hours before the session of the state parliament is supposed to start, where some of the mentioned laws are expected to be adopted. It is important to note that the appointment of the Minister of Finance from the ranks of the SNSD will also be considered during that session.

This is the first time that the leaders of the state government meet in this format after the summer break.

After today’s meeting and the parliamentary session, it will be much clearer whether the government will follow the path of promised reforms and the adoption of the necessary laws, or whether the crisis will deepen. Let us recall that the crisis intensified after the authorities in the RS adopted laws rejecting the application of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the decisions of the High Representative. In the meantime, an indictment was filed against Milorad Dodik.
