memorial centerWorking meeting of the members of the Board, the Directorate and the Advisory Board of the Memorial Center Potocari with representatives of the organization PAX and the Memorial Centre Kamp Westerbork from Holland was held in Sarajevo, with the aim of reviewing the project activities and the presentation of the draft concept of the permanent exhibition that will be set up in a former building of battery factory.

The organization PAX from Holland is responsible for the realization of the project according to which the building and the museum in Potocari should have an authentic look as in July 1995. The first phase of the construction lasted for 120 days, and the necessary building and architectural works were completed in this period. Meeting in Sarajevo is preceding the beginning of the second phase of works.

“We agreed on the main topics that will be incorporated in the permanent exhibition, and the next will be how to fill different themes, according to different rooms, with corresponding content,” said Dion van den Berg, a senior political adviser in PAX.
Museum of the Dutch battalion will be furnished with original furniture, maps, and they are even trying to find identical photos and graffiti that were on the walls of the building back in 1995.
Monique Brinks, the designer of the permanent exhibition, is in charge so that all planned will be realized. Opinion of families of the victims who survived the genocide is very important.
Hatidza Mehmedovic, president of the Association “Mothers of Srebrenica”, said that the Memorial Center is of great importance to them.

Representatives of the Association are demanding all the necessary efforts so that the building of the Museum of the Dutch battalion becomes a reflection of what really happened in Potocari in July 1995.

The next meeting will be held in Potocari when the final deadline for completion of work on the construction of the Museum of the Dutch battalion should be known.
