The Russian Embassy in BiH reacted to the Statements of German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius

The Russian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina reacted to the statements of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Germany, Boris Pistorius, who said, among other things, that they “want to prevent Russia from abusing this region.”

“We want to prevent Russia from causing an additional crisis, destabilization, from abusing this zone in order to expand its influence, hoping to destabilize the West in this way. Germany will support the engagement of EUFOR Atlhea. It is very important that the forces can remain in Bosnia and Herzegovina and I am looking forward to the way they are welcomed here, because they also contribute to a safe environment for the necessary reforms”, said Pistorius today during a visit to Sarajevo.

The Russian Embassy stated that it is not Russia but “Germany that is exacerbating the internal political crisis in BiH”, primarily through the medium of the figure of a high representative who is considered illegitimate.

They again referred to the fact that Christian Schmidt did not receive the approval of the UN Security Council. Let us recall that the PIC and other institutions as well as the “father of Dayton” clearly emphasized that the appointment of a high representative does not require the consent of the UN Security Council, but that it is sufficient to be confirmed by the Steering Committee of the Peace Implementation Council.

“The Management Board of the PIC is the body that is relevant for the appointment of the High Representative. Any other answer is completely wrong,” pointed out James O’Brien.

The Russian embassy accused Germany of “destabilizing the Balkans by supporting Kosovo” and “destabilizing Europe by supporting Kyiv.”

“As for Russia, as one of the guarantors of the Dayton Peace Agreement, it advocates the development of dialogue in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the elaboration of consensus agreements, as well as the strengthening of all-round ties with the friendly peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, they said at the end.
