Fruit producers from Republic of Srpska (RS) are continuing to export their products to the Russian market this year, where, according to their plans, should be placed the most of this year’s yield of apples.
Local farmers emphasize that they will have a more quality fruit yield this year, primarily apples, which, besides domestic market, will be shipped to the customer in Russia, since there is a demand for these products.
It is important to mention that only in the first 5 months of this year, apples in the value of 6,067,638 BAM were exported from B&H to Russia, as well as the pears in the value of 4,087,029 BAM, which represents huge growth when compared to the year before, which is the result of the sanctions that are introduced between the European Union and Russia.
Dragoja Dojcinovic, the President of the Association of Fruit Growers of the RS, said that the placement of the fruit is going through the newly formed fruit cooperative, and that the certain amount of early varieties of fruits are already placed on both domestic and Russian market.
“For now, one part of pears and early varieties of apples has been exported, and apple harvesting have not started yet, and we expect that it will start on the 26th of September. Cooperative has agreed to store certain quantities in freezers in Trebovljani, Gradiska and Kozarska Dubica and that these quantities will go on spring sales,” said Dojčinović, adding that some of the fruits is already agreed for the Russian market, as well as the local shopping centers.
According to Dojcinovic, farmers are expecting to have more solid sales this year, and since they got organized, the yield is quite good quality as well. The fact that there is no old apple yield in stock nowhere in Europe is going in favor of local farmers as well, and all of their refrigerators are empty, which means that the farmers in the RS will have a good sale in the next two years.
He could not specify which quantities of fruits will be exported to Russia, but he emphasized that more of the apples will be exported than placed on the domestic market.
