The Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria stated that the 19-year-old man suspected of planning the attack at the Taylor Swift concert in Vienna has sworn allegiance to ISIL.

As further stated by Franz Ruz from the relevant ministry, the young man is an Austrian citizen and became radicalized on the Internet. Chemical substances were seized. Details are not yet known.

Besides him, another male is suspected. Taylor was scheduled to perform on August 8, 9 and 10 at Ernst Happel Stadium. The organizers told the fans that the money for the tickets will be returned to them in the next 10 working days.

Vienna police chief Gerhard Purstl said they expected approximately 65,000 people to attend each of her concerts. They also expected around 22,000 fans outside the stadium.

The police announced that video surveillance will be carried out. They will also monitor the airspace. The investigation continues.

The incident has raised concerns about ongoing threats from extremist groups targeting high-profile events, especially those involving large crowds.
