There are currently around One Thousand Migrants staying in USC

About 1.000 migrants are currently staying in the Una-Sana Canton (USC), and the humanitarian situation is fully under control, said the president of the USC Red Cross Cantonal Organization, Husein Klicic.

According to him, around 350 people are currently staying in the Migrant Center in Lipa, while around 250 people are staying in the Temporary Reception Center in Borici.

”Everyone is provided with decent accommodation, meals, medical assistance, and all other necessities of life. Also, we have 300 to 400 migrants in micro-locations, who are, so to speak, in constant movement and trying to reach their desired destinations in Western Europe. The overall situation has been significantly improved by the adequate engagement of the Ministry of Security and the Service for Affairs with Foreigners of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), both for migrants and citizens, as well as numerous volunteers on the ground,” Klicic stated.

The Service for Affairs with Foreigners also points out that the current situation in our country is more favorable than in previous years. Around 1.500 migrants are currently staying in four reception centers in the USC and Canton Sarajevo (CS).

”This is probably the smallest number of migrants in the last two or three years, so we are fully managing the situation. At the beginning of October, we had a certain increase in the influx of migrants, when we had about 3.000 people in the centers. You can see for yourself that this number has decreased significantly, and the most important thing is that in BiH we are no longer talking about a crisis, but a completely controlled situation,” said Deputy Director of the Service for Affairs with Foreigners of BiH Mirsad Buzar.

A certain change in the structure of the migrant population, which seeks its way to Western Europe through BiH, was recorded. A smaller number of citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and some other countries is noticeable, while there has been a certain increase in the number of migrants from African countries, BHRT reports.
