The Minister of Energy and Mining of the Republika Srpska, Petar Đokić, said that the “Ugljevik” mine and thermal power plant /RiTE/ will enforce the arbitration decision against the Holding of Slovenian hydropower plants in the amount of 67 million euros.
Đokić said that this would be a burden for RiTE “Ugljevik”, emphasizing that this obligation arose during the time of the former SFRY when there was an agreement on pooling the work and resources of the then state.
Đokić said that it is good that a significant part of the plaintiff’s claim was not accepted before the arbitration in Belgrade, because if that had happened, it would have caused far more complex consequences for the Republika Srpska, “Elektroprivreda” and RiTE “Ugljevik”.
He reminded that the arbitration initiated by the Holding of Slovenian hydropower plants has been going on for several years, and that there are two disputes – one before the Arbitration Tribunal in Washington, and the other in Belgrade.
Đokić said that RiTE “Ugljevik” must in the future deliver to Slovenians as much as a third of the electricity it produces and pay compensation of 67 million euros based on the verdict handed down by the Arbitration Council in Belgrade.
