Renovation of the Udrim Monastery near Zavidovic officially begins, Akta.ba business portal reports.

The Federal Ministry of Physical Planning has issued a Public Invitation for Inspection of the main design before issuing a permit for the execution of works for the purpose of reconstruction (rehabilitation) of the Udrim Monastery near Zavidovici. Udrim, which is considered the endowment of King Dragutin Nemanjic, is about 300 years old in ruins.  According to legend, it was probably destroyed during the Austrian-Turkish war.

As the Udrim monastery was destroyed, all the archival material that could be a witness to its history was destroyed, but it is known that in the 17th century the monastery had a large estate, ten vineyards and a large number of monks. After its demolition, the Udrim monastery was never rebuilt.

In 1970 it was proclaimed a cultural monument of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and is currently on the provisional list of cultural monuments of BiH. During the first phase of archaeological research by the Doboj Museum, objects from the Middle Ages were found in the ruins of the monastery.
