Tourist Train “Ciro” started operating in Travnik

Travnik received a new attraction, a tourist train “Ciro” which will enable tourists to make a turn all around the city and visit numerous sights.

This is the project of the company “Sejdic Ltd.”, and their PR manager Emina Mandzuka stated that “Ciro” now has modern audio equipment that will enable passengers to learn about important monuments and locations in several world languages.

“We got this idea a year or two ago and now it can finally be realized because we met all the conditions and obtained all necessary permits. Travnik is a beautiful city and there are so many things to be seen, so we wanted to make those beauties more accessible to both visitors and residents of Travnik. For example, many people who are visiting our city, especially the elderly and children, are not able to see the Old Town or Basbunar, so we wanted to give them that opportunity,” said Mandzuka.

The first ride, which took place yesterday, on the International Worker’s Day, started at 7 AM in front of the Regional Museum and it was free of charge. The train will regularly operate from 9 AM to 3 PM, and from 5 PM to 10.30 PM, on the route from Plava voda, towards the Old Town and Bashbunar, and through the city center, next to the Sarena Mosque, and back to the initial position.

The price of the ticket will be 5 BAM, and the train will be able to drive more than 30 passengers.

According to the initiators of this project, the tourist train has a symbolic significance as well, considering the importance of this railroad and steam train for residents of this area.

As noted on the website of the Regional Museum in Travnik, the route of the narrow railway Lasva-Travnik was put into operation back in 1893, and two years later was constructed the narrow railway trail for the route Donji Vakuf-Bugojno-Jajce.

After the abolition of the narrow railway back in 1975, the steam train “Ciro”, which consisted of locomotive and two wagons, was left to the Municipality of Travnik, and it is located as an exhibit in front of the Regional Museum.
