Professor of constitutional law Kasim Trnka, speaking about the announcements of the adoption of the election law of the Republika Srpska (RS), in the Plenum program, pointed out that in the last six months, not only the anti-state rhetoric from the RS has increased, but also the number of steps that are actually being implemented has increased, and brings the statehood of Bosnia and Herzegovina into crisis and has a destabilizing effect.
“Like it or not, we can’t help but connect it with Russian influence in this area. Dodik’s statement that if Europe accepts the imposition of technical changes to the electoral law – BiH’s European path is over, so what is the hypocrisy of a system, that one man can manipulate and condition like that. In the end, it would have to be a serious signal to our partners in the West that they should undertake something more realistic. It’s not enough just to fly over the plane, it’s a nice gesture, but it must be taken with far more serious steps,” said Trnka.
When asked whether there will be changes to the electoral law in the political context in the near future, the president of the HDZ 1990 Program Council, Martin Raguž, emphasized that he wants to believe that the people who make up the ruling majority are aware of this, as he says, historical momentum and opportunity for BiH.
“To reach a new phase of relations with the EU and through a true partnership in the process, we solve many open issues. I don’t know which of those actors is ready to gamble on that opportunity. We see that progress is being made, that some laws are being passed rapidly, one of the priorities is the election law – let’s agree to make some progress in the Federation, we see what kind of processes are taking place in the RS”, said Raguž.
