Ukrainian official says talks started very constructively.

In a new post, he said that the talks “started very constructively” and shared a video from the conversation.

–Ukrainian official posts pictures on X and says: We are starting to work-

Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, shared some pictures from today’s meeting between US and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia.

In a post on the social network X, he said that the delegations “started to work” in Jeddah.

–BBC: No signs Moscow is ready to compromise-

The mood in Moscow ahead of US-Ukraine talks in Saudi Arabia could hardly be described as one of Russia being ready to compromise, writes the BBC’s Russia editor Steve Rosenberg.

“In recent days, Russian officials have shown no signs of being willing to make concessions. Instead, there is a determination to continue the war.”

According to Rosenberg, the Russians believe they have the initiative on the battlefield and are encouraged by what they see as political support from the White House. Everything Donald Trump has said and done in recent days is putting intense pressure on Ukraine, while on the other hand there are still no signs that Washington is putting pressure on Moscow.

All of this, according to Rosenberg, strengthens the confidence of Russian officials that things are currently going in their favor.

Ukraine has accepted the US proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire and steps towards achieving lasting peace, the United States and Ukraine said in a joint statement after their meeting in Jeddah.

The two sides agreed to conclude, as soon as possible, a comprehensive agreement for the development of Ukraine’s key mineral resources.

“The proposed ceasefire will be extended by mutual agreement of both parties and is subject to acceptance and implementation by Russia,” the statement said.

The United States will immediately lift the pause in intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine.

The talks in Jeddah ended after nine hours of negotiations, Saudi media reported.
