moonThe US Ambassador to BiH Patrick Moon visited yesterday the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of Fight against Corruption, and held a meeting with the manager of this institution, Sead Lisak, reports Fena.

Deputy managers of the agency Dragan Slipac and Sreto Pekić and representatives of the USAID and Partnership for advancing reforms in the economy (PARE) also attended the meeting.

Moon noted that the corruption is a huge problem in BiH, and added that the fights against corruption demands political will, courage and hard work.

‘You have a lot of work ahead of you. If you do it right, you’ll have political enemies. But, you work for the citizens of this country and future generations. You will be judged by dissatisfaction of politics with your achievements. We will try to strengthen your capacities when we see the results that you achieve’, said Moon.

Moon said that the US Government gives full support to BiH in its fight against corruption and added that immediately after coming to BiH, he started talking with political parties about corruption, but there were no results.

He said that the Agency must have greater support of laws and politics, and there must be a synergy among different institutions in BiH and added that the US Government will continue to follow activities of the Agency.

Lisak thanked Moon on his help, and the donation by USAID PARE of 56 268 BAM for the equipment and furniture.

‘I must say that this donation is just one manner in which the US Government helped the Agency. With their support, the Agency participated and continues to participate in very important projects that contribute to more efficient fight against corruption in our country’, said Lisak.

He noted that that donation was direct support for the implementation of the Action Plan for Realization of the Strategy of Fight against Corruption (2009-2014) which concerns the acquirement of material and technical capacities of the Agency.

Lisak said that the intention is to include both the government, NGOs, media, and academic community in creating the new strategy to fight corruption, and noted that the fight against corruption has no alternative because BiH citizens deserve better future.

He thanked the US Government and ambassador Moon on their help and expressed his hope that the cooperation will continue in times to come, announced the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of Fight Against Corruption in BiH.
