US Embassy: By adopting the Law, RS is moving towards greater Authoritarianism

The United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina warned that the adoption in the first reading of the Draft Law on the Special Register and Publicity of the Work of Non-Profit Organizations in the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska represents another move by the Government of the RS to limit the fundamental freedoms and civil liberties of the residents of the RS.

The law will put NGOs under increased pressure, make them vulnerable to prosecution for legitimate activities and reduce their ability to provide important social services to the public.

“That law pushes Republika Srpska towards greater authoritarianism and sacrifices the interests of the people of the RS in a democratic and prosperous future to the narrow, selfish interests of the leadership of the RS, which intends to enrich itself at the expense of the people they claim to represent,” the US Embassy announced in response on social platform X.
