The Ambassador of the US to BiH Patrick Moon met with the Mayor of Bihać Emdžad Galijašević.
They spoke of the current situation in Bihać and plans for the next period, as well as current and future mutual cooperation. Mayor Galijašević spoke with Ambassador Moon about the activities of the municipal administration.
“In the last 120 days of work we made the first steps towards stabilization of the municipal budget, sanitization of debts of the municipality and public companies, and the creation of conditions for the beginning of the biggest post-war project, construction of a system for the drainage of storm water and sewage’’, said Galijašević.
He thanked Ambassador Moon for the great support of the US government to Bihać in the last 18 years, which is reflected in a big number of projects worth 2.3 million KM.
He added that thanks to them, there are far better working conditions in the municipality, above all the construction of a modern stop-shop in the framework of the GAP project. In addition, there was work on the reconstruction of housing, improving energy efficiency and the support of agriculture.
“There was a large number of USAID projects and other US governmental and NGO organizations, and Bihać has an honest friend in the US that wishes to see our city as a modern European center with a high level of democracy and tolerance’’, added Galijašević.
Ambassador Moon spoke of the activities of the US government on reform in the FBiH, which began a few weeks ago and with the goal of establishing a better and higher quality public administration.
When it comes to municipality Bihać, Ambassador Moon said that the US administration will continue to be a partner to Bihać in projects whose goals is the development of Bihać as an administrative seat of the Una-Sana Canton.
“Bihać has potential in the area of tourism and business and the US government will continue to be firmly committed to cooperation with municipality Bihać. We will do everything to support your projects that would contribute to the development of your city’’, said Ambassador Moon.
