US senators Jeanne Shaheen and Peter Welch visited the valley of white niches in Potočari today, accompanied by the ambassador of the United States of America, Michael Murphy.

The visit of American senators only emphasizes the support of the USA for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and multi-ethnic character of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the visit, the delegation also met with the mothers of Srebrenica, and on that occasion the senators pointed out that Potočari causes a special emotion and that they cannot express how appalled they are by the crimes that took place.

The director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, Emir Suljagić, took the delegation through the battery factory in Potočari, and through an exhibition of photos and videos, he tried to show them the horror that happened in Potočari in July 1995.

For Senator Shaheen, this is the second visit to Potočari, while Senator Welch is in Srebrenica for the first time.

At the end of the visit, an agreement was signed on the construction of new premises where personal belongings and unidentified remains of genocide victims will be kept, Federalna reports.
