BiH Presidency members Zeljko Komsic, Sefik Dzaferovic and Milorad Dodik held separate meetings today with Gabriel Escobar, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, who on this occasion was explicit in saying that there would be no war in BiH.
“Gabriel Escobar’s messages are explicit that there will be no war in BiH, and that Dayton was, is and remains the basis of US policy. The US is a signatory to Dayton and nothing but Dayton can happen without their consent, as well as those of European allies,” said BiH Presidency Chairman Zeljko Komsic after the meeting.
He said that Escobar believes that this is an artificial crisis in BiH that has no real basis, and that the United States will still be very careful.
“Nothing regarding the change of borders, relations defined and derived from Dayton are acceptable for the United States,” Komsic said.
He added that it was pointed out at the meeting that the countries of the region share the same opinion as the United States.
“Belgrade, ie Serbia is not interested in conflicts in and around BiH. The perspective of the region is in the integration processes of the Western Balkans and the Open Balkans initiative is acceptable. The Western Balkans as a region has the highest growth rate compared to other regions and should be used as trade, remove barriers to trade in goods and services and people “, said Komšić, adding that BiH cannot give up the EU either, which is not only a question of membership but also of the EU value system.
After the conversation with Escobar, the member of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, said that it was jointly emphasized at the meeting that there is no basis for the possibility of a conflict in BiH, and that all processes should be political.
“We both believe that there is no basis, that it was fabricated by those who wanted to emphasize the atmosphere of mistrust. Those who did it have the opportunity to clarify it with Escobar. I said all those who rattle weapons should be the subject of rapid international intervention.
“All processes should be political, war cannot be an option,” Dodik said at a conference in East Sarajevo, stressing that any possibility of a war option is ruled out.
He said that there were no problems with the Dayton issue, although, as he says, Escobar sees it in a different form.
“We do not share the values of BiH in violation of the Constitution. No political action of ours will be outside the Constitution. We want a serious solution, we said we are preparing documents on basic matters. I informed Exobar about that. “I said we would have our own laws within six months,” Dodik said.
Dodik pointed out that the American envoy considers the objections from Republika Srpska to be frustrating.
“We are frustrated by the lies that this is a state governed by the rule of law. This is not a state governed by the rule of law. RS will continue to take care of itself. significant, although no agreement was reached on everything.
At the end of the conference, Dodik pointed out that there was no talk of any sanctions at the meeting with Escobar.
