Nigel_caseyThe British Ambassador to BiH Nigel Casey will visit today the public institution “Department of Special Education and Upbringing of Children Mjedenica”, where he will learn about the activities of the Association of EDUS-Education For All.

Through the program for the promotion of the education of children with and without difficulties in development, which the EDUS Association is implementing for the third year, more than 100 children and 30 experts have received everyday support and education. A large number of experts and parents throughout BiH have received education through lectures and workshops.

The activities that will be presented are a part of the project “Stari Grad-Center of Progress of Children with Developmental Difficulties”, which is being realized as part of the UNDP project “Strengthening of Local Democracies III-LOD III”, and is financed by the EU from the funds of the IPA fund in the amount of 2 million euros.

At this year’s public call of the UNPD and municipality Stari Grad, of the 138 proposals submitted, the EDUS project in the amount of 70.000 KM was assessed to be the best.

The project provides an intensive, multidisciplinary therapy treatment with advanced scientific methods (comprehensive application of behavioral analysis in education –CABAS) for around 59 children with difficult developmental disorders.

In doing so, the direct and everyday work 18 experts are trained (pedagogues, psychologists, educators, physiotherapists and social workers), and parents are also trained.

During August and September there will be a lecture and workshop, availability of overall healthcare, education and social sector from the area of municipality Stari Grad.

With this visit, the Ambassador of Great Britain wishes to express support to the efficient joint projects of the international and local communities and the exceptional efforts of EDUS to enable a better quality life of children with developmental disabilities, and where BiH would also come closer to the criteria for EU accession, announced the EDUS Association.
