The annual World Italian Cuisine Week (SCIM), organized by the Embassy of Italy in Sarajevo, in cooperation with the ICE Agency, is returning to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The 2024 edition of SCIM will focus on the promotion of Italian food products and traditional Italian desserts. Several initiatives make up this year’s edition, combining the promotion of Italian food products, training of local experts and tastings.

The initiative to promote Italian products is underway from November 18 at the Mercator supermarket on Ložionička Street in Sarajevo and will last until November 30. A special online product catalog has been created for the occasion.

Furthermore, from November 26 to 30, further promotional activities will be provided at the Crvena Jabuka market in Sarajevo, for which a dedicated online catalog has been created in a similar way.

The event “Dolcevita. Un viaggio tra i dolci della tradizione italiana” (Dolcevita. A journey through traditional Italian desserts) will take place on November 29th in a renowned Sarajevo restaurant. The protagonists of the evening will be Italian desserts, from panettone to babà to the timeless tiramisu. In the kitchen are two exceptional guests: the president of the Italian Federation of Pastries, Ice Cream and Chocolate Matteo Cutolo and Enrico Casarano, both world champions in pastry making.

On November 29th, students of the “Secondary Tourism and Hospitality School” Sarajevo, from the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the leadership of chef Robert Vrgoč, will organize a tasting of Italian dishes prepared according to the training modules of the “Accademia di Cultura Enogastronomica Italiana”. Thanks to this project, which is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Coldiretti-Filiera Italia and Campagna Amica, it has been possible to make an asynchronous digital platform in English available to students of this school free of charge, with a 15-hour training plan. The project aims to build a network of new skills and professionalism to support the Made in Italy agri-food sector worldwide, particularly in terms of strengthening competitiveness abroad and combating Italian sounding.
