What is the Number of Employed Persons in BiH?

At the end of May of this year, there were 324,517 persons on the records of institutes and employment services in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Compared to the previous month, the number of unemployed persons decreased by 5,427 persons or 1.64 percent.

According to the data of the BiH Agency for Labor and Employment, of the total number of people seeking employment, 191,913 or 59.14 percent are women. Compared to the same period last year, unemployment in BiH is lower by 20,435 people or 5.92 percent.

Unemployment decreased in the Federation of BiH by 4,331 persons (1.66 percent), in the Republika Srpska by 923 persons (1.61) and in the Brčko District of BiH by 173 persons (1.43 percent).

In May, a total of 17,307 persons were deleted from the records of employment services, of which 8,631 were women. Of that number, 8,168 people are employed, of which 4,269 are women.

At the same time, 7,620 people lost their jobs, of which 3,777 were women. During this period, employers reported the need to hire 3,114 new workers.

According to the data of the BiH Statistics Agency, in April of this year, the number of employed persons in BiH was 856,104, of which 388,655 were women. Compared to March of this year, the number of employed persons increased by 0.4 percent, and the number of employed women increased by 0.4 percent.

The rate of registered unemployment for April was 27.8 percent and compared to March of this year, it is lower by 0.4 percentage points, according to the Agency for Labor and Employment of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
