13140956_1767239940179349_1216943608_nMayors of Sarajevo and Dubrovnik, Ivo Komsic and Andro Vlahusic, together visited remains of medieval Bosnian town of Dubrovnik which is located near Ilijas. Croatian Dubrovnik is still alive, it is planetary popular tourist destination, and the Bosnian one is demolished, but it can become interesting as well.

It is assumed that the Bosnian Dubrovnik was built in the 12th century, and that its last residents left in the 18th century. However, there is no much evidence about it.

Monsignor Franjo Topic from Napredak and researcher Perica Mijatovic accompanied mayors.

“Dubrovnik chronicler Jakov Lukarevic entered the information that this city (Bosnian Dubrovnik) was founded by merchants from Dubrovnik, when Bosnian Ban Kulin gave them exploitation of the central Bosnian mines,” said Mijatovic.

For mayors Komsic and Vlahusic it is also important that cooperation between Sarajevo and Dubrovnik is further secured. Especially now when clear link is discovered between the Croatian and Bosnian Dubrovnik.

Bosnian Dubrovnik further intrigued researchers when a small team of several professor from Sarajevo University and several students from the Department of Archaeology at the Faculty of Philosophy found a well preserved skeleton without a head near the remains of the city in the tomb which is believed to belong to Mirko Radojevic, father of great Prince Batic.

Researcher Mijatovic explained that, besides Hrvoje Vukcic, Sandalj Hranic and Pavle Radinovic, Radojevic was the fourth key figure among the nobility at the court of King Tvrtko I, one of the largest Bosnian rulers.
