What was agreed at the first Session of the newly elected BiH Presidency?

The first regular session of the newly elected Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was held yesterday in Sarajevo. The session was chaired by Zeljka Cvijanovic.

The BiH Presidency has accepted the invitation to participate in the European Union (EU)-Western Balkans Summit, which will be held on December 6th, 2022, in Tirana, in the Republic of Albania. The delegation of BiH at this summit will be led by the Chairperson of the BiH Presidency, Zeljka Cvijanovic.

The members of the Presidency of BiH agreed at yesterday’s session that the Chairperson of the Presidency of BiH Zeljka Cvijanovic, on behalf of the Presidency of BiH, should send a letter to the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

What was adopted and approved

The Presidency of BiH adopted by a majority of votes the Report on the implementation of the budget of the institutions of BiH and the international obligations of BiH for 2021, which will be submitted to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH (PABiH).

The BiH Presidency approved the conclusion of:

-Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH and the Federal Public Service for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Kingdom of Belgium.

-Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.

-Agreement on partnership in the implementation of the project ”Support to the BiH Mine Action Center (BHMAC) in the implementation of the real-time information management system for mine action in BiH BHIMSMA Core” between the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH and the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining and the non-governmental humanitarian organization Norwegian People’s Aid. The BHMAC undertakes to include the Republic Administration of Civil Protection and the Federal Administration of Civil Protection in the implementation of this agreement and to coordinate activities with the aforementioned institutions.

-A two-year agreement on cooperation between BiH and the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe for the period 2022-2023.

-Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary on cooperation within the Stipendium Hungaricum program for the period 2023-2025.

Ratification of the Grant Agreement

The BiH Presidency made decisions on the acceptance of:

-Grant Agreement (Port of Brcko District) between BiH and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which refers to an investment grant from the European Common Fund for the Western Balkans.

-Agreement between the EU and BiH on the participation of BiH in the Union program ”Fiscalis” for the period 2021-2027.

The Presidency of BiH adopted the Decision on initiating the procedure for conducting negotiations for the conclusion of the Agreement between the Ministry of Defense of BiH and the Ministry of National Defense of Romania on defense cooperation.

The Presidency of BiH received the Information on the situation in the field of migration in BiH for 2021, and the Information on the situation in the field of migration in BiH for the first four months of 2022.

”The BiH Presidency made a decision on the ratification of the Grant Agreement dated July 4th, 2022, and Amendment No. 8 to the Financing Agreement dated February 27th, 2006 between KfW, Frankfurt am Main (”KfW”) and BiH represented by the Council of Ministers of BiH (”Recipient”) – in the amount of EUR 6.000.000.00 – Mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MICMSME) – through of the European Fund for BiH (EFBH) – Phase 2,” it is stated in the press release of the BiH Presidency.
