Who will stop the Removal of Traces of Genocide in Kravica?

The key question in recent days is who will stop clearing the terrain at the site of the killing of 1.300 Bosniaks in Kravica during the Srebrenica genocide. More specifically – who will stop the order of the Municipality of Bratunac? The harshest condemnations come from the Srebrenica Memorial Center. Reis Husein Kavazovic also called for the suspension of these activities.

On July 13th, 1995, members of the Republika Srpska (RS) Army and Police, commanded by convicted war criminal Ratko Mladic, shot and killed about 1.300 victims of the Srebrenica genocide at the Kravica Agricultural Cooperative. Surviving witnesses testified in The Hague about that.

“Then the shooting started in bursts. I just bent my head in a corner and closed my eyes, “ told witness PW-156.

“It took all night. That shooting. They take a break, rest, and go back inside, shoot as much as they want, “ said witness PW-111.

The municipal government in Bratunac has begun work to remove traces and evidence of genocide. The municipality is the investor in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the warehouses where the victims of the genocide were shot in July 1995. The deadline for the completion of works is 90 days.

“What we see today in Kravica is a continuation of the work that Ratko Mladic, Ljubisa Beara, Miroslav Deronjic started in July and then in October 1995. The people who did that then are still alive in Bratunac today. I would not be surprised if there are some genocide perpetrators among those who are carrying out this clean-up of the crime scene in Kravica in 1995, “ explainedEmir Suljagic, director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center.

“My youngest son Nermin was killed in Kravica. I found two bones. One bone up on Budak, the other 25 kilometers from here. Another small bone was found there behind Jasenova. I buried two small bones. He was taken from Potocari. They do it, they don’t look back on it. The world is silent, ” pointed outMunira Subasic, president of the Association Movement of the Mothers of Srebrenica and Zepa enclaves.

“I do not know why our government is not doing anything. And for us, the families of the victims, it is one great execution site and one great pain that can never be forgotten and forgiven. The worst thing is that the international community is silent on all this, ” emphasized Suhra Sinanovic, president of the Association of Women of Podrinje Bratunac.

So, the state judiciary is on the move, which should react and prosecute the municipal government, which is destroying the traces of the crime and everything that reminds of the committed genocide.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH mentioned that granting a certain object or space the status of a memorial or similar type of protection is not in its competence, but in the competence of the institutions of civil authority in BiH. Journalists tried to talk to the mayor of Bratunac, Srdjan Rankic, but he did not answer phone calls. The RS government is deliberately ignoring legislation and approving the destruction of traces of war crimes and genocide. The silence of the Office of the High Representative (OHR), which has not reacted so far, is also worrying, Federalna writes.
