The mayor of Banja Luka, Draško Stanivukovic, will not support or participate in the protest rally organized by BORS (Veterans’ Organization of Republika Srpska) with the support of the ruling SNSD.
Stanivukovic says that he has other obligations.

“My position is that I am against that. I gave my political opinion,” Stanivukovic said.
He added that he had been contacted by High Representative Christian Schmidt to arrange a meeting in Banja Luka next week. He pointed out that he expressed openness to talk.

The Veterans’ Organization of the Republika Srpska (BORS) is organizing a large people’s gathering in Banja Luka. They will gather on Wednesday, April 20th, as they said, to support the preservation of the institutions of the RS, Klix.ba writes.

The gathering, ie the protest, will be organized on Banja Luka’s Krajina Square under the slogan ”Freedom”, and according to the organization, they want to express dissatisfaction with the recent decision of the High Representative Christian Schmidt to suspend the RS Law on Immovable Property.

With that decision, Schmidt prevented the misuse of state land at the entity level, but SNSD leader Milorad Dodik said he would not respect his decision.

BORS President Aleksandar Savic told that ”the highest bodies of RS must be respected” and that “RS is the vow of all citizens”, and with the words “all in one place like in 1992” called for protests and “fighting in peacetime.”

SNSD spokesman Radovan Kovacevic said that this party fully supports the announced rally and that he is looking forward to it, and then he called RS a state, saying “it will be proven at the rally that this nation and state have not been conquered.” In addition to the SNSD, the rally was supported by other parties in the RS ruling coalition.
