The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Tegeltija, has scheduled for today a telephone session of the Council to vote on the distribution of funds for the General Elections in October, it was confirmed for BHRT.

The session is scheduled for 2 p.m.

According to the estimates of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of BiH, it is necessary to provide 12.5 million BAM for the conduct of the elections.

Although the state budget has not yet been adopted, the money will be allocated from the transferred budget funds.

The CEC announced the elections on May 4, and the deadline for providing funds is May 19.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CEC BiH) warned on Monday that financial resources for the implementation of the 2022 General Elections must be provided by May 19.

On May 4, the Central Election Commission passed a Decision on calling and holding the 2022 General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The elections will be held on Sunday, October 2 this year.

“According to the provisions of Article 1.2a of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the competent institutions must provide funds for the elections within 15 days from the day of calling the elections, or in this case by May 19. The Central Election Commission estimated that the 2022 General Elections will cost around 12,528,000.00 BAM “, the CEC announced.

The Central Election Commission shall act in accordance with the provisions of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina and strictly adhere to all legal provisions and deadlines prescribed.

The CEC recalls the provisions of Article 1.3a of the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to which “The mandate of members of representative bodies elected in regular elections lasts four years and runs from the day the election results are published in the Official Gazette of BiH.” The results of the 2018 General Elections were published in the Official Gazette of BiH No. 78/18 of 6 November 2018, and the mandate of the members of the representative bodies elected in the 2018 General Elections lasts until November 2022.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina calls on decision-makers in Bosnia and Herzegovina to fulfill their legal obligation and provide financial resources for the implementation of the 2022 General Elections within the legal deadline, the statement said.
