Will the Omarska Camp Memorial Center be built?

At the site of the Omarska camp, members of the Union of Inmates in BiH, the Regional Association of Inmates of the Banja Luka Region, the Association of Inmates “Prijedor `92”, the Association of Inmates Kozarac and the Association of Citizens “Sedra” will commemorate and remind of the crimes and terror committed in that death concentration camp.

As announced by the Union of Prisoners in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the connection and conditioning of camps and places of suffering of camp inmates in the wider area of Krajina and Prijedor is evident, unambiguous and clearly proven.

At the same time, as they point out, this is also a confirmation of planned action and planned genocide, which the commanders of the aggressors against the independent state of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed and mentioned in their military reports at the time, even at the beginning of the realization of their inhuman ideas.

“Tortures and shootings of inmates of Bosniak and Croat nationality in the Omarska camp are known and proven by hundreds of inmates-living witnesses at the court in The Hague, but despite the shared torture and suffering, the “spirits of division” of the state still exist today in our narrow and wider environment. Precisely because of these undeniable facts, the construction of the memorial center of the Omarska camp is imperative, and it is the promised debt of the company ‘Arcelor Mital’ and the local community in the fight for our better tomorrow,” the Alliance says.
