young people in mostarDespite difficult situation of young people in BiH, the Institute for Youth Development KULT is marking the International Youth Day, which has been marked across the world.

On the occasion of the International Youth Day, the educational-leisure youth center Spajalica organized series of activities that focus on young people in BiH and their day. Program of Spajalica center will be held on August 16 from 09:30 to 22:00 0’clock, the Institute for Youth Development KULT announced  in a press release.

Aim is to gather as many young people as possible from area of Sarajevo Canton and local community of Ilidža, and offer quality but also fun activities to young people, which promote informal education and youth volunteering.

”The International Youth Day is the day when we celebrate achievements of young people in the world and participation of young people in society. Institute for Youth Development KULT wishes for young people to actively contribute to making of local and regional youth programs because young people are the greatest power for present and the future”, KULT said.

They also emphasized that young people are the most endangered social group in BiH.

Analysis of the situation and needs of young people which was done by the Institute for Youth Development KULT in the Federation of BiH shows that 37% of young people would leave BiH for good, 40% for a longer period and 9% have already taken actual steps to leave the country. Situation gets even worse when only 5% of young people in BiH receive more than 1.000 BAM per month.

”Young people do not start families because only 9% of them are married in BiH and only 7% have children whereas only 5% have their own flats”, said KULT.

”Reason for this situation are difficulties to get a job and constant marginalization of young people in decision making process. Young people want to participate in decision making process and take responsibility for their own activities and express their own opinion. That is why it is important to include them in those processes because young people truly bring changes”, KULT said in a press release.
