Zvizdic: What are the Results of the Work of BiH Diplomacy?

The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PABiH) Denis Zvizdiz reacted to the review of the Embassy of Israel in Tirana on the problem of amendments to the Election Law in BiH, in which it was stated that “proposals from the Croatian side are welcome.”

Zvizdic believes that the representatives of the embassy are unilaterally informed about the situation in BiH since they only heard what Dragan Covic (HDZ BiH) and Milorad Dodik (SNSD) had to say.

”It is particularly worrying that the Embassy of Israel could give such a position on the electoral law without first talking to the Jewish community in BiH or with Jakob Finci, who would explain to them the essence of the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights, from which it can be precisely read that changes to the BiH electoral law can only go in the direction of eliminating existing discrimination and accepting democratic principles and good practices,” Zvizdic stated.

He believes that such an attitude of the Embassy of Israel opens a much more important issue.

”What are the scopes and what are the results of the work of those responsible for conducting the foreign policy of BiH, the pro-Bosnian oriented members of the Presidency of BiH and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH,” Zvizdic asks.

He is of the opinion that the idea of a civil and democratic BiH cannot be realized without the help of influential friends from the international community.

“And we will achieve this through serious, responsible, sincere and frequent cooperation, above all with the United States (U.S.), the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, and France, which are key partners for NATO and European Union (EU) integration of BiH. And I am not sure that Thailand and Algeria can decisively help us at this moment. That is why serious lobbying for the many interests of BiH should be started right away – political, economic, security, and convincing the friends of BiH with strong arguments that changes to the electoral law can be based on democratic principles that will permanently eliminate existing discriminatory solutions and enable all citizens of BiH, throughout the territory, to vote and be elected,” he added.

Zvidic also believes that it is better to act as a statesman and to act preventively than to wait for the announcement of some new decision by the high representative in BiH, which would lead to the organization of new protests, Klix.ba writes.
