Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina discussed the Security Situation with Commissioner Varhelyi

At the meeting held in Sarajevo on Friday, Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotic and EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Oliver Varhelyi discussed the security situation in BiH, with special emphasis on the challenges of the migrant crisis.

Cikotic informed Commissioner Varhelyi about the measures that BiH is taking in order to better control and control the border and prevent illegal migration, as well as the humanitarian care of illegal migrants.

The continuation of the financial assistance of the European Union for more efficient management of the migrant crisis was also discussed. It was pointed out that BiH expects greater assistance to security and other competent institutions dealing with migration issues, so that they can respond to this growing security and humanitarian challenge in terms of personnel and technology.

It was stated from the BiH Ministry of Security at the meeting that 1.5 million euros will be allocated for the procurement of border protection equipment.
