The team of volunteers “Let’s Do It”, in cooperation with the Info Center of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized on Saturday 13 actions of planting trees throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Recognizing the need for continuous engagement of local communities and international partners for the preservation and care of forests and the environment, more than 9,000 seedlings were planted during the activities, according to the project “Let’s Do It – a million seedlings in one day”.

After the successful afforestation action realized on October 17 at the location Dejcici – Bjelasnica, the ‘afforestation story’ spread to the whole country, so the actions were realized in Sarajevo, Bijeljina, Trebinje, Ljubuski, Zenica, Tuzla, Donji Vakuf, Gorazde, Kozarac, Ilijas, Bosanska Krupa, Fojnica and Stolac.

”We are pleased with the fact that throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, we have united in a common goal of raising awareness of the importance of forests for our citizens. We must be aware that forests are the wealth of this planet and that our survival would not be possible without them, because they give us what we need most – oxygen,” according to the Let’s Do It team.

At the same time, they point out that trees are an important resource in production, act on soil erosion and prevent landslides, provide shade, and many animals a home.
