Laying wreaths at the memorial in Matica brdo near Stolac marked the 17th anniversary of the death of Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski, who, together with associates and crew members was killed in a plane crash while he was traveling to Mostar.

Deputy Prime Minister for the Fight against Corruption and Crime Ljupco Nikolovski addressed the delegations on behalf of the Government of North Macedonia saying that the late President Trajkovski was a wise, honest and open politician and was respected not only in the Republic of North Macedonia but also in the region and beyond.

Aircraft of the Macedonian government crashed on February 26, 2004 in the area of the village of Rotimlja near Mostar. Apart from Trajkovski, advisers from his office Dimka Ilkova-Bošković, Risto Blaževski and Anita Lozanovska, employee of the Macedonian Foreign Ministry Mile Krstevski, security detail members Boris Velinov and Ace Velinovski, and pilots Marko Markovski and Branko Ivanovski also lost their lives in the crash.

They were scheduled to attend an international investment conference in Mostar that day.

The air crash investigation commission upon completing their inquiry into the cause of the accident concluded that the crash was a result of mistakes of the pilots, poor aircraft maintenance and adverse weather conditions.

elegations of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Council of Ministers of BiH, the Presidency of BiH, the Office of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, the FBiH Government, the City of Mostar and the Association of Macedonian Citizens in BiH all visited the site and laid wreaths.
