Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, stated today in East Sarajevo that Serbia is allocating around 500 million euros for projects in the Republika Srpska (RS).

“At this moment, through the projects we are launching today, namely the hydroelectric power plants of the Upper Drina, i.e. specifically the hydropower plant Buk Bijela, then through the construction of the motorway Belgrade-Sarajevo, i.e. the section Raca-Bijeljina and the airport Trebinje, the Republic of Serbia is investing around 500 million euros,” said Brnabić after the joint session of the governments of Republika Srpska and Serbia, at which projects and cooperation were discussed, Fena news agency writes.

Brnabic said that the intensive cooperation between the two governments continues, reminding of the special support of Serbia for four municipalities: Nevesinje, Kostajnica, Dubica and Drvar.

“If we take into account HPP Foca and Paunci, then it is a total investment of some 787 million euros in the next few years. Together with other projects, health education, smaller projects and together with donations for local projects, we have donated over 82 million euros since 2014. We will continue with those donations during 2021. All in all, it is around one billion euros, “said Brnabic.

The Prime Ministers of the Republika Srpska and Serbia, Radovan Viskovic and Ana Brnabic, laid the foundation stone for the Hydroelectric Power Plant “Buk Bijela” on the Drina River, which officially marked the beginning of the construction of this project.

Preparatory works for the construction of this HPP begin today, which will be jointly financed by the power companies of Serbia and Srpska in the amount of around 220 million euros.

RS Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic pointed out that he perceives this project as something most important for RS and Serbia, because it has been waiting for more than 60 years.

The previous ten joint sessions of the two governments, as he emphasized, led to projects that will be implemented in the next period, and those are significant infrastructure projects, worth more than 1.6 billion BAM.
