For the purpose of its own research projects, the agency for public relations and marketing ”PRIME Communications”, conducted a survey on the views of the citizens of the Republic of Srpska about its capital.

The survey showed that 52.2% of Srpska citizens consider Banja Luka as the capital of the Republic of Srpska.

A similar survey, with the same questions, was conducted in September 2018, so it was interesting to compare the results with a time span of 15 months.

According to the Constitution of the Republic of Srpska, its capital is Sarajevo, and in 2018, 21.7% of the population of the Republic of Srpska was familiar with the fact, whereas in 2019, 16.3% of the population was familiar with it.

56% of the Srpska’s population claimed Banja Luka was the capital according to the Constitution of the Republic of Srpska, and in 2019 this result was 52.5%.

In 2018, 13.9% of the polled citizens answered that East Sarajevo is the capital of the Republic of Srpska, while in 2019 this percentage was 22.1%.

A total of 1000 respondents participated in the survey, and the technique used was an oral interview, based on a pre-prepared questionnaire.
