The Sarajevo skywalk called Sarajevo Eye will be a new attraction of the city in the form of an architectural compositional unit located on Spicasta stijena with a view of the eastern entrance to Sarajevo.
Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karic has proposed building a skywalk above the capital. The Planning Institute of Sarajevo Canton gave a positive opinion to the City of Sarajevo for this project. It is argued that access to the skywalk through the forest would neither suffer significant interventions, nor that the forest fund would be disrupted and that existing hiking trails would be used to a greater extent, Klix.ba writes.
Access to the skywalk is via an already existing access sequence whose width is 1.20 m, and which needs to be restored in the form of a paved path until you reach the site.
When it comes to the content of the whole, there are three main sequences. The first is certainly the skywalk, which offers wide views of the south-east of the city.
Skywalk radius 30m, at the farthest elevation from the ground, is elevated 13m. The construction of the skywalk consists of glass panels, which stand on a steel structure – a linear grid.
The size and importance of this pillar, both functionally and visually, lead to it becoming a benchmark, or a symbol of the whole area. From its top, the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina is raised, which dominates the area and is visible from many parts of the city.
Great attention is paid to the position of night lighting in order to emphasize certain segments of the whole, so that a large number of visitors is expected at night as well.
