Around 30 members of the Special Unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the help of joined units of Territorial Defense, organized the action of drawing out the armament from the company “Pretis” in Vogošća.

The action lasted for two hours. Very well-organized special unit members Dragan Vikić and Kemal Ademović, without a bullet fired, managed to take out 1.100 antitank missiles and a truckload of mortars shells, which will later turn out to be crucial for the defense of the city.

At the time, there was general turmoil in the city. Due to bad system of connection and poor coordination among the defenders, on April 18 Safet Hadžić and his group headed for “Pretis” to pull out even more weapons before the paramilitary formations of the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) and the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) encircle Sarajevo completely.

Hadžić and his fellow fighters from the Patriotic League and the Territorial Defense did not know that the paramilitary formations of SDS have already taken the factory. They headed off to Vogošća in a van.

Safet was unarmed. When they reached the gate, they were shot at. Safet was the first to get shot. Other fighters who killed during this action are Sead Velić, Nermin Zeljković, Fahrudin Čavčić, Almir Islamović and Senad Čirić.

In the vicinity of the place where Safet Hadžić was killed at the entrance to “Pretis”, a memorial has been raised for him and his fellow fighters. Another monument in honor of Safet Hadžić was raised in front of the Sarajevo Municipality of Novi Grad.
