Benjamin Tahirovic, the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), was officially introduced to the Dutch giant Ajax yesterday.
The four-time European champion paid Roma 8.5 million euros for the services of this BiH midfielder.
Tahirovic signed a five-year contract with the team from Amsterdam, i.e. until the summer of 2028.
“This is a very big step in my career, a new club, new teammates, a new language, and a new step, but I will get used to it. I was a little nervous on the plane to Amsterdam, but now I am happy and excited,” said Tahirovic at the beginning of his address and emphasized his football qualities.
“I like playing as a six the most. I think that position best suits my qualities as a player. I’m good when it comes to the technical aspect, I have a good pass and I play from possession,” he added.
Ajax director Sven Mislintat also praised him.
“He’s one of the biggest talents I’ve ever seen in this position. He’s already played 13 Serie A games. It’s not easy to play for Mourinho’s team at that age, so that’s saying something,” he said.
Ajax completely failed last season, taking only the third position, 13 points behind the champion Feyenoord. This summer, they will play in the playoffs to enter the Europa League.
Before Roma, Tahirovic wore the jersey of Swedish Vasalunds, and this year he made his debut for the BiH national team, which he chose ahead of Sweden, who wanted to see him in their national team, Klix.ba reports.
