The prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes filed an indictment against – Zijad Kadrić, Hajrudin Halilović, Asim Hamzić, Miralem Čengić, Samir Selimović and Amir Murtić, who are accused of war crimes.
The indictment refers to war crimes against victims of Serbian nationality in the area of Visoko and includes 109 individual acts of execution, against dozens of victims and injured parties, which are charged to the accused, the BiH Prosecutor’s Office announced.
As stated, the accused are accused of being members of the TO Visoko Municipal Staff, OS ARBiH General Staff, in the detention facility-camp located in the “Ahmet Fetahagić” barracks, during the war and armed conflict from May to the end of 1992. The SJB and the military police of the ARBiH in Visoko acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilians in Time of War, and systematically and continuously carried out torture, inhumane treatment, robbery, physical and psychological abuse of the victims, civilians of Serbian nationality from the area of Visoko, including women, children and minors, as well as elderly people.
According to the indictment, several hundred civilians from the area of Visoko and its surroundings were detained and abused in the said camp for a period of about eight months, who were kept without enough food, basic hygiene conditions, in unconditioned and overcrowded rooms, where they were subjected to daily abuse, beatings, torture, inhumane treatment, various forms of psychological and physical abuse, and especially humiliating actions towards female prisoners and minors.
According to the complaint, the first defendant, instead of acting in accordance with his duties and preventing torture and inhumane treatment of which he was aware and knew about, and protecting the detained civilians, did not take protective measures, thereby enabling the other defendants as well as other unidentified persons, continuous and systematic abuse of the victims.
The actions that the suspects are charged with are described in 109 counts and sub-counts of the indictment, which the Prosecution will prove by calling 90 witnesses and experts and submitting a large number of evidentiary materials.
The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation, according to the statement.
