The Anniversary of the Birth of Zuko Džumhur Marked in Konjic

zukoThe NGO “Volonteri i prijatelji konjičke regije” (Volunteers and friends of the Konjic region), along with the professor of Bosnian language and literature Dušica Čukle and students of the Mixed Seondary School Konjic marked 94 years since Zulfikar Zuko Džumhur was born.

The organizers placed flowers at his grave and honoured that way this excellent artist, writer and caricaturist which made Konjic famous in the world.

Due to his numerous talents, Zuko is called the last renaissance artist from this region. He has spent all his life wondering through the world, writing down notes, telling stories, researching, connecting people and crossing boundaries.

Zuko Džumhur was born in Konjic on September 24th in 1920 and passed away on November 27th in 1989 in Herceg-Novi (Montenegro). He was buried two days later at the Musala graveyard in Konjic, next to his father Abduselam and his mother Vasvija.

Painter, writer, screenplay writer, caricaturist, wonderer, he completed his high-school education in Belgrade and Sarajevo, left us more than 10 books, over 10 000 caricatures, wrote scripts for three motion picture movies and many short films, made 35 scenography for theatre and spent the last ten years of his life working on TV Sarajevo.
