The Association of Citizens “Witnesses of its time” is once again organizing the jubilee March of Peace Sarajevo – Nezuk – Potocari, entitled “March in memory of the victims of the genocide of the United Nations protected zone”.

It is an eight-day road more than 280 kilometers long, which will be walked in memory of several thousand Srebrenica residents who crossed the nearly 100-kilometer road in July 1995 to find salvation in Tuzla.

The Organizing Committee invites everyone who feels physically ready to participate in the eight-day hiking trip from Sarajevo to Potocari and to register by June 11 via the e-mail address sjedocisvogvremena@gmail.com, Facebook or phone 061 / 980-008.

The Peace March starts on July 3 from Sarajevo and ends on July 11 in Potocari. The route includes hilly and mountain trails and passages through dense vegetation.

The organizing committee of this year’s Peace March has taken special measures to make sure everything goes smoothly from the epidemiological point of view and to create a safe place without a possible spread of coronavirus infection.

“Apart from paying tribute to the victims, the Peace March aims to animate domestic and judicial institutions to prosecute and convict perpetrators of war crimes, especially genocide. According to the latest information, we have more than three thousand registered participants, and we have already animated the relevant institutions to provide logistical support for those who registered today, ” said yesterday Zulfo Salihovic, President of the Organizing Committee of this year’s Peace March.

The entire section is 100 kilometers long and represents the original route that hundreds of Podrinje residents passed from Srebrenica to the free territory in Nezuk in July 1995.

Participants will walk the following parts: Nezuk – Baljkovica – Parlog – Crni Vrh – Snagovo – Liplje – Jošanica – Donje Kamenica – Bakrači – Glodi – Udrč – Cerska – Kaldrmica – Đugum – Mravinjci – Burnice – Kameničko Brdo – Ravni Buljim – Budak – Potocari (Memorial Center). They will walk three days, about 30 kilometers a day, on very demanding terrain.

Participants will have the opportunity to attend shorter historic lessons, visit sites where mass executions of captured Bosniaks and mass graves were found.

The arrival of participants of Peace March in Potocari is expected on July 10th in the afternoon.
