Train “The Majestic Train de Luxe”, a replica of the former Austro-Hungarian royal train was supposed to travel from Austria to BiH, on the occasion of the centenary of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, starting from June 26, but the trip has been cancelled, confirmed to FENA the Austrian company “The Luxury Train Club” which organizes luxury train travels.
“The company had an idea to promote cross-border peace, and it has offered to interested tourists travel in a luxury train “The Majestic Train” directly to the place where the assassination took place on June 28, 1914 in Sarajevo,” said an employee of “The Luxury Train Club” Birgit Hechtl-Sainitzer.
The train was supposed to go via Graz and Zagreb and arrive in Sarajevo on June 28, “but the trip was cancelled for several reasons,” explains Hechtl-Sainitzer.
“Because of the protests that took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the economic and political situation we did not want to present this luxurious train in such a moment, and even the number of passengers who signed in was not sufficient,” said Hechtl-Sainitzer.
It is, she says, luxurious and expensive journey, and the people in BiH were protesting because of the unemployment, “so, it was not the right time to organize this trip.”
“We had big plans for approximately 300 passengers and that is why it was not easy for us to make this decision,” said Hechtl-Sainitzer and added that they plan to organize this journey on another occasion.
