Assembly of CS adopts the Law on Tourism

13090798_1762777313958945_1836626473_oMembers of the Assembly of Canton Sarajevo (CS) yesterday adopted the Law on Tourism, which provides the adoption of planning documents in this area – the strategy of tourism development, marketing plan of tourism, a plan of promotion and strategy of tourism development in local government units.

The Ministry of Economy, as a holder of preparation of this law, noted that the adoption of this law will contribute to faster development of tourism through the improvement of the quality of tourist offer, it will secure a better inspection supervision of the area and set up a purposeful spending of funds in this sector.

The law will suppress and reduce the gray economy in this field, better protect users of tourist services, increase budgetary and extra-budgetary revenues, protect market competition and contribute to greater professionalization of this sector.

The law also defines the scope of tourist services, its subjects, travel agencies, their services and the minimum technical requirements, a security deposit for arrangements and confirmation on their insurance.

It also prescribe the manner of issuing licenses for activities, role and conditions for the performance of job of tourist guides, and regulates the field of rural tourism.

The law regulates the framework of tourist activity in the Canton area, as well as the establishment and operation of tourist offices and it prescribes goals of establishing, activities and tasks, legal status, transparency of work, management bodies, financing and income from residential taxes, payment method, the method of registration and cancellation of tourists, the way of using and deployment of tourist tax, and the obligation of tourist boards to act according to the laws in the field of public procurement.
