Banja Luka Mayor: If the budget Issue is not resolved, we will build our own Barricades

The mayor of Banja Luka, Drasko Stanivukovic, held an extraordinary press conference where he commented on the distribution of finances for the upcoming year.

Stanivukovic said that he received the worst budget so far, which is twice the size of the previous one.

“It took a lot of time to analyze the antics of the SNSD that we received. There are a lot of amendments and they can be characterized as the biggest attack on the Republika Srpska (RS)budget and the finances of Banja Luka so far. These are amendments amounting to 15.5 million BAM which is twice as much as the previous year. The parliamentary majority, led by the SNSD, went to the extent that not a single project foreseen by the city administration was passed. They removed everything from the budget as the most unimportant thing in the world,” he said at the beginning of his speech.

He pointed out that the behavior towards the budget in such a way that shows elementary ignorance is particularly shocking.

Furthermore, Stanivukovic said he thinks that it is inevitable that the city of Banja Luka pays on the basis of “indebtedness and crime” everything that happened in the past 20 years in Aquana.

“If we don’t pay for it, the Olympic pool will not exist. Hello, parliamentary majority. No one is asking you or me. It has to be paid. I’m sorry that it is like that. The criminal courts together with the criminals in the previous administration in Aquana legalized all this. The previous director of Aquana admitted everything and he did not fight in the courts. Today, because of this, we are faced with 3.5 million liabilities that we do not pay because we want, but have to, so that the workers do not lose their jobs,” he said.

He also said that the budget reduced the funds provided for fuel for firefighters and civil protection.

Next steps

He noted he would use the last option he had until tomorrow (Thursday). He invited everyone who decides on monetary matters for a talk tomorrow at 9 a.m.

“If they are not ready to give up on this, we cannot agree to this. On the day of the session, I can only invite firefighters, civil protection, users and employees of Aquana and the information system of Banja Luka to come to the protests. We can build our own barricades. We don’t need shqiptari and Albanians when we have them. They cornered us. But when you’re in a corner, you can only go forward. That’s where I play the best,” he warned, Klix.ba reports.
