The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, held a meeting today with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany (FR Germany) to BiH, Alfredo Grannas, during which they discussed the current situation in BiH, as well as the European and Euro-Atlantic path of BiH.
Bećirović pointed to extremely good bilateral relations with the SR Germany, stressing that this is evidenced by numerous and intensive meetings at the highest level. He expressed BiH’s interest in the two countries continuing to develop political, economic and security cooperation.
He particularly emphasized the extremely good economic cooperation between the two countries, adding that Germany is among the most important trade partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Proof of this, he said, is the fact that the total foreign trade exchange of the two countries during 2025 reached almost 5.9 billion BAM.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina firmly stands by its already established foreign policy goals, which are full membership in the EU and NATO. BiH’s foreign policy is fully aligned with the EU’s foreign and security policy,” said Bećirović.
The Chairman of the BiH Presidency particularly emphasized the importance of the engagement and contribution of FR Germany, as a member of the Steering Committee of the Peace Implementation Council and the Quinte for BiH, to the country’s stability, peace and prosperity.
He also said that the process of electing a new high representative should be completed in a way that would preserve the credibility of the international presence and the full ability of the OHR to continue implementing its mandate in full capacity.
German Ambassador Alfred Grannas expressed the strong support of the Federal Republic of Germany to the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH, as well as a strong commitment to peace and stability, the Cabinet of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, announced.
